One of the most common questions from clients — especially those facing court deadlines — is: how long will this take? The honest answer depends on three factors: the service tier you select, the location of the recipient, and how cooperative (or evasive) that recipient turns out to be.

Standard Service

For standard service, EasyProServe makes up to three attempts at the recipient’s known address over a period of several days. Most standard serves are completed within 3 to 7 business days. This timeline is appropriate when your court deadline is not immediately pressing.

Rush Service

Rush service is handled with same-day or next-day priority. Our server will make the first attempt within hours of receiving your documents. Rush service is available for law firms and corporate clients with tight filing windows. Contact us directly to confirm availability for same-day service in Calgary or Edmonton.

When Recipients Are Difficult to Locate

Some recipients have moved, avoid their known address, or actively evade service. In these cases, timelines extend. EasyProServe documents every attempt with time-stamped notes and, where applicable, can assist with the process of applying for substitutional service — an alternative method approved by the court when personal service is not reasonably possible.

  • Three standard attempts are included with every service order
  • Additional attempts can be requested at an added fee
  • We provide detailed attempt logs to support a substitutional service application if needed

What Slows Service Down?

Incomplete or outdated address information is the single biggest cause of delays. Providing the most current known address, along with any secondary locations (workplace, family home), significantly increases the speed of successful service. If you have concerns about a recipient’s whereabouts, contact us before submitting your order.

THE BEST WAY TO HIT YOUR COURT DEADLINE IS TO SUBMIT YOUR DOCUMENTS AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST WEEK.
